For business travel (when you are traveling to conferences, meetings, for teaching etc.) you can use the BC Government rates. These can be found at http://pss.gov.bc.ca/csa/categories/accommodation/search/. Follow the links, employee travel to business travel accommodation listing to City index to find the cities and rates available.
For personal or business travel on the UBC Travel Site you will find the “University Hotel Rate Program” and the CAUBO (Canadian Association of University Business officers) rates for hotels, car rental, airlines and parking. You may use the numbers listed to save at a variety of companies.
“RESX” is also available. You may register with this service and then use it to find inexpensive travel, car rental and hotel rates which include UBC negotiated rates. Reservations made with this service are reviewed by the service to be sure you have the best rates. UBC has agreements with BTI Travel and North South Travel and Tours to give you Agent assisted travel booking at reduced rates.
UBC Faculty receive a 25% discount for Park and Fly at the airport.
Most BC physicians are members of the BCMA and have access to preferred rates at some hotels and car rental companies. Your faculty position offers significantly more choices and possibilities.
